Description

Version 3.x is a completly rewritten Unifi addon.

Key changes from release 2.2.1 (2023) to the current version:

  1. Modern Checkmk architecture — migrated from legacy registration-based plug-ins to the modular Check API v2 structure, including dedicated folders for checks, rulesets, graphing, server-side calls, and inventory UI.

  2. Checkmk 2.4/2.5 support — the add-on now targets Checkmk 2.4.0p19 through 2.5.x and uses the current Rulesets v1, Server-side Calls v1, Graphing v1, and Check API v2 interfaces.

  3. Improved controller connection handling — safer HTTPS handling, configurable certificate validation, password-store integration, structured request errors, and a consistent request timeout.

  4. UDM-Pro-first configuration — new UniFi connection rules enable UDM-Pro API endpoints by default for newly created rules, while still allowing legacy-controller API mode.

  5. More complete device monitoring — device checks now report adoption status, connection state, model, firmware, IP address, satisfaction, EOL/LTS/incompatibility flags, environmental temperature, and fan information.

  6. New device uptime service — switches, access points, and other piggybacked UniFi devices can now receive a dedicated UniFi Uptime service with the standard uptime metric.

  7. Standardized interface monitoring — UniFi switch ports are integrated with Checkmk’s standard network-interface monitoring, including traffic, errors, discards, discovery rules, naming options, and standard graphs.

  8. Expanded PoE monitoring — separate device-level PoE budget and per-port PoE services provide power usage, available budget, percentage usage, voltage, current, power, class, mode, and configurable thresholds.

  9. Hardware and network inventory — the add-on now inventories device details, interfaces, switch-port configuration, PoE capabilities, Wi-Fi data, and LLDP neighbors into Checkmk Hardware/Software Inventory.

  10. Enhanced LLDP topology information — LLDP data is exported for device piggyback hosts, enriched with managed-neighbor details, filtered to avoid wired end clients, and includes improved LAG member mapping.

  11. Better Wi-Fi visibility — access-point radios and SSIDs have dedicated services, client-related details, and inventory data for wireless configuration and statistics.

  12. More flexible client piggybacking — clients can be monitored on site hosts or individual piggyback hosts, named by IP, hostname, or hostname plus domain; the documentation also covers DCD host creation and IPv4 filtering.

  13. Richer model and host metadata — additional UniFi device models are mapped to readable names, and device type/model host labels are available for rule targeting and automation.

  14. Clearer operational documentation — the README now covers setup, piggyback behavior, DCD filtering, service states, thresholds, inventory, compatibility, interface discovery, troubleshooting, and upgrade considerations.

und many more things... ;)

But it breaks a lot. The Rules must be deleted and rewritten!
