title: Dell PowerVault ME5: Snapshots

description:
Monitors snapshot protection for each source volume of a Dell PowerVault ME5
system. One service covers both the volume's snapshots and the schedule that
creates them, so a single service answers whether the volume is protected and
whether that protection is still running.

Reported for the snapshots: the count, the total snapshot data and the age of
the newest snapshot, with each snapshot's status, creation time and data
footprint in the service details. Timestamps come from the array's snapshot
objects, which reflect the current point in time even where a retention task
has reset and reused an existing snapshot.

Reported for the schedule: its status, the time of the last run, the next
scheduled run and any error the array reports. A next run time that has already
passed means the schedule is no longer firing; that maps to OK by default, so
arrays with abandoned or unbound schedules stay quiet. Set the overdue state to
Warning or Critical to alert when a schedule that should be running has
stalled, or use the snapshot age levels for the equivalent alert from the
 snapshot side.

A volume that has a schedule but no snapshots is reported explicitly, so a
complete protection failure surfaces rather than disappearing.

Conditions are configurable via the "Dell PowerVault ME5 snapshots" ruleset.
