title: HTTP endpoint freshness
agents: endpoint_age
catalog: app/http
license: GPLv3
distribution: check_mk
description:
This check verifies that an HTTP endpoint is still being kept up to
date by an upstream producer (a cronjob, a CDN cache, a periodic
export, etc.). The accompanying special agent fetches each configured
URL and derives an "age in seconds" from one of three sources:
the response header {Age}, an HTTP date header such as {Last-Modified},
or a dotted-path lookup into the JSON response body. The check then
applies upper level thresholds to that age value and emits an
{endpoint_age} metric so the freshness can be graphed.

The service goes {CRIT} when the endpoint is unreachable, returns an
HTTP error, or the configured age source cannot be parsed from the
response. Otherwise the state is determined by the configured WARN
and CRIT thresholds for the age value.

item:
 The configured endpoint name.

discovery:
One service is discovered for every endpoint returned by the
 special agent.
