title: Quantum Scalar i6: Tape drives
agents: snmp
catalog: hw/storagehw/quantum
license: GPLv2
distribution: local
description:
 This check monitors the physical tape drives of a Quantum Scalar i3/i6
 tape library, read via SNMP from the physical drive table
 (.1.3.6.1.4.1.3697.1.10.15.5.80.2.1).

 The service state is the worst of three values reported by the library:

 {Drive state:} {variedOn} is OK, {variedOff} is WARN, {notReady} and
 {notInstalled} are CRIT, {unknown} is UNKNOWN.

 {Drive mode:} {online} is OK, {offline} is CRIT, {unknown} is UNKNOWN.

 {Cleaning status:} {notNeeded} is OK, {recommended} is WARN, {required}
 is CRIT, {unknown} is UNKNOWN.

 Mode and cleaning status only appear in the summary when they are not OK.
 The summary shows the drive position and its logical library, and marks
 the drives that act as control path with {(cpActive)}.

 By default the RAS status of the drive is shown in the details but does
 not affect the service state. It can be included with the rule
 {Quantum Scalar i6 tape drives}: then {greenGood} and {greenInformation}
 are OK, {blueAttention} and {yellowWarning} are WARN, {orangeDegraded}
 and {redFailure} are CRIT, {unknown} is UNKNOWN. The overall drive RAS status
 is monitored by {quantum_i6_rassubsystem}, and the open tickets behind it
 by {quantum_i6_ras_tickets}.

 The details also show drive type, interface type, address, physical and
 logical serial numbers, firmware version, number of loads, control path
 role and data path configuration.

 The check produces the metric {DriveLoads}, the number of tape loads of
 the drive.

 The plugins of this family are detected on devices whose system description
 starts with {Linux library} and whose product name
 (.1.3.6.1.4.1.3697.1.10.15.5.7) contains {Scalar i3-i6}.

item:
 The device ID of the drive (vendor, product and serial number as reported
 by the library), for example {IBM ULTRIUM-TD9 C42C00B060}. The
 spaces are part of the item.

discovery:
 One service {Drive <device ID>} is created for each drive in the table.
