title: OpenAI Platform: Organization usage attribution
agents: openai_platform
catalog: app
license: GPLv2
distribution: checkmk-openai extension
description: Attributes request/call activity primarily through project API keys and their inventory owners (user or service account) using Usage API group_by dimensions. Attribution currently covers Completions/Responses, Embeddings, Images, Moderations, Audio Speech and Audio Transcription, where OpenAI documents user_id and api_key_id grouping. API-key owner metadata is taken from the project API-key inventory. Provider-reported Usage API user_id values are treated as human users only when they resolve to organization/project user inventory; unresolved IDs are diagnostic metadata attached to the same underlying events and are not additional usage. API-key secret values are never collected or displayed. Token totals aggregate all supported attribution families and can therefore exceed Prompt Cache totals, which cover Completions/Responses only. Optional concentration thresholds are configured in the OpenAI Platform organization policy. Usage API documentation: https://platform.openai.com/docs/api-reference/usage. Project API-key documentation: https://platform.openai.com/docs/api-reference/project-api-keys/list. discovery: One organization-level attribution service is created when Collect caller/API-key usage attribution is enabled in the OpenAI Platform special-agent rule. The option is enabled by default and can be disabled when the extra grouping/cardinality is not desired.
