MikroTik RouterOS monitoring for CheckMK Monitors MikroTik RouterOS devices via the RouterOS API (v2, port 8729/SSL or 8728) or the RESTful API. Provides checks for: - System health, fans, and temperature sensors - Power supply units (per-PSU voltage, current, and wattage) - BGP and OSPF neighbors - VRRP status - IPsec tunnels - Firewall rules (with optional disabled-rule visibility) - File age monitoring - RouterOS board info and version enforcement - License expiration (CHR) v4.0.0 — CheckMK 2.4/2.5 compatibility update This release is a full API migration. The cmk.gui.plugins.wato interface was removed in CheckMK 2.5; the plugin now uses cmk.rulesets.v1 and cmk.server_side_calls.v1. Existing rules are migrated automatically on install — no manual reconfiguration needed. The SSL connection options have been consolidated into a single dropdown (SSL/verify, SSL/skip cert, Plain TCP) to prevent conflicting settings. Power monitoring now creates one service per PSU instead of a single aggregated service, fixing doubled readings on dual-PSU devices. Password store integration has been fixed to handle CheckMK's binary store format correctly. Tested on CheckMK 2.4. Compatibility with CheckMK 2.5 follows from the API migration but has not yet been verified in production. Based on the original plugin by Andrea Fadda (devilofhell87). Modern monitoring-visualisation platform for Checkmk and a community successor to NagVis. It plugs into the Checkmk main menu and sidebar, reuses the OMD session for SSO, talks Livestatus directly, and pushes live state changes to the browser over WebSockets. Four board types (static, force-directed flow, severity radar, geo with OSM tiles), full host / service / hostgroup / servicegroup / BI object support, lines with arrows and weather-coloured perfdata, NagVis `.cfg` import, light / dark theme, English and German UI. Background, screenshots, motivation and discussion: [Checkmk forum thread](https://forum.checkmk.com/t/orbvis-a-nagvis-successor-candidate-developer-preview-feedback-welcome/59010) This MKP targets **Checkmk 2.5**. MKPs for 2.3, 2.4 and 2.6 are on the [GitHub releases page](https://github.com/makanakoeln/orbvis/releases). Status: early release (0.1.0), GPL-2.0-only. ## Installation > Uploading and enabling the MKP via the Checkmk GUI is **not enough** — > you must run `orbvis-setup` once on the command line as the site user. > The GUI cannot extract the frontend bundle, build the venv, register > the OMD service or wire up Apache. ```bash omd su SITE mkp add ~/orbvis.mkp mkp enable orbvis orbvis-setup ``` After this, OrbVis appears in the Checkmk main menu and as a sidebar snapin. Authentication uses your existing Checkmk session. Full install guide (requirements, what `orbvis-setup` does, upgrade, production hardening): [docs/install.md](https://github.com/makanakoeln/orbvis/blob/main/docs/install.md) ## Uninstall Order matters — run the uninstall helper **before** disabling the MKP, so the OMD service, Apache snippet and venv are torn down while the package's hook scripts are still in place: ```bash omd su SITE orbvis-setup uninstall mkp disable orbvis mkp remove orbvis ``` User data under `$OMD_ROOT/local/share/orbvis/` (`boards/`, `orbvis.db`, `.env`, `backends.json`) is preserved for later re-install. Delete the directory by hand for a fully clean removal.
