A Checkmk **special agent** plus check plugins to monitor GitLab through its REST API (v4) — both **self-hosted** (CE/EE) and **GitLab.com (SaaS)** — built in the style of the bundled Jenkins special agent. Tested layout for **Checkmk 2\.5.0**, GitLab EE 19.x, and tested successfully against a **GitLab.com free account**. Some services are admin- or EE-only and therefore self-hosted only — see [Compatibility](#compatibility).

**Replaces and combines the former packages `mkp_cleanup` and `mkp_updates` (MKP Updates)** in one package. Keeps a site's extension packages (MKPs) current and tidy: - **mkp-update** (command line) finds newer versions of installed packages, downloads and verifies them, and installs them after asking, or automatically. - **MKP Updates** (special agent \+ check) reports the same as a Checkmk service: which packages have an update, which can't be checked. - **mkp-cleanup** (command line) finds outdated and duplicate package versions and disables or removes them. **Local MKP repository:** put the MKPs your organization has tested and approved into a directory (file share, git repository) or onto an internal web server; `mkp-update` and the MKP Updates service use it, also on sites without internet access (`--offline`). Otherwise updates are looked up via each package's Download-URL (GitHub, GitLab, Gitea, any git server) or the Checkmk Exchange. Run the tools as the site user, e.g. via `omd su SITENAME`. **Upgrading from `mkp_cleanup` or `mkp_updates`:** Checkmk refuses to enable this package while one of them is still enabled. Run the `migrate-to-mkp-maintenance` script from the release once - rules, services, sources file and cron jobs keep working (see the README). I did not develop this MKP officially as an employee of Checkmk GmbH, but rather as a private individual.
